Tour of Persian Gulf in 1987 in support of Operation Earnest Will & Desert Shield.

In May 1990 after his tour of duty aboard the USS Worden and during Operation Desert Storm he went back to San Diego CA to complete advanced communications training:
- Completed 12-weeks of Radioman Class "C" School
- Completed 12-weeks of Communications Systems Technician School
- Completed 2-weeks of Quality Systems Monitoring School
